Dropped, but not flat

Published by at 7:41 am under Surf reports

Hello Friends,

Boy, what a spike! After peaking around the 4 metre mark at lunch yesterday, we’re back to a more subdued, even docile looking 2 metres. Swell is dead south and period is around 10 seconds, so there should still be a few juicy ones at spots that like the straight south swell direction.

Size will range from barely surfable in protected south corners, to chest to head high at exposed locations. Wind is due to stay out of the WNW all day. The Bureau is calling for 15-20 kts, so it should be pretty reasonable most places.

The trend is for the swell to stay about the same through today. Overnight it looks as though it might slip down another cog or two on the power meter for Sunday into Monday, before Huey starts winding things up again (see the Goat’s thoughts on this).

The long range models are still sticking with their huge call for Wednesday. If it plays out as they currently anticipate, we could have light offshores and double-overhead plus ESE swell!

BTW, check out the little clip I put up of yesterday at the Bower. A few bodyboarders getting deep at Winki…

Go well and stay happy!
