Grey old Saturday…

Published by at 7:22 am under Surf reports

Hello Friends,

Grey skies and, sad to say, grey surf prospects for this morning in Sydney. The windswell shifted around to the south overnight with the change and, while it picked up briefly to a couple three metres out at sea, the 6 second period means that very little energy is getting into the beach. If you find anything, it’s going to be at spots with good exposure to the south. You’ll have a bit of wind with it though.

The Bureau’s call is for the S-SE’ly to back off this morning before swinging around to the NE at 15-20 kts and gradually builing up to 20-25 kts in the evening. The NE’r is going to stick around overnight and is due to be puffing along at 13-18 kts from early. During Sunday, it’ll build up to 20-25 kts by the afternoon.

None of which is going to do the surf any good. If you jag anything bigger than waist high this weekend, then I tips my lid to ya. And the rest of the week? Urggh. Dire looking for Sydney; exciting for the entire west coast of NZ. From the shape of the forecasts, all the swell energy is heading away from the east coast for the next week. I hope Huey proves me wrong…

Have yourself a top old day!

ps: if you were thinking of getting along to the Surfrider Conference but didn’t register, I have to let you know we’re full up. You can still get along tomorrow for the paddle out action at Turrimetta though!
