Saturday starts brilliantly

Hello Friends,

Can you get down to the beach this morning? Good! It’ll be mobbed, but just about everywhere in the Sydney region  should have a little something to play on. And some spots will be a bit better than “little something”.

Swell has settled into the SE and is averaging about 9 seconds apart. Size is down slightly from yesterday afternoon and a fair bit from yesterday morning. But sets in the middle of the beach at Dee Why were into the head high range on the bigger ones. The point seems to be smaller, maybe chest high on the sets I saw, but it could have been a lull because ordinarily with this swell direction it’s usually on a par with the beachy.

Wind this morning is coming from the NW but as the day goes along, it’ll swing more to the NE and pick up into the 18-23 kt range. That’ll lump things up at southern ends, but could be good for north corners.

From the buoys and the forecast models, it looks to me as though it’ll stay in the fun range all day, but the trend will be gradually downward. With any luck, there’ll still be something around tomorrow morning – although the forecast is calling for showery conditions, so the aesthetics probably won’t be as impressive.

Get out there now!

ps: shoutout to the crew who rocked up for drinks at Opera House bar last night. Had a  brilliant time talking to many of ya. What an evening!
