Ocean swim day at Dee Why and it’s all happening.

Hello Friends,

Another gloomy  la nina morning along the Sydney seaboard. Huey has all the settings on ho-hum this morning. Wind isn’t doing much yet, but the Bureau says it’ll get up into the 10-15 kt range from the E-SE later. The swell is still out of the SSE at about a metre on a period of around 8 seconds. That is translating into weak and wobbly waist high burgers at Dee Why.

On a brighter note, the forecast models are still looking pretty interesting for the end of the coming week. Right now the super computers in Monterey reckon that a big system will develop east of the Gold Coast from around Wednesday and then expand to create a reasonable size swell zone that will wash over a zone from around Noosa to the Vic border starting late Weds and going through the weekend.

At the moment, it looks as though we’ll start seeing the energy in Sydney from around Thursday (but the mid north coast will be going pretty nutty by that stage), with the peak day hitting us Friday. It’ll be strongly onshore north of Sydney, but at least one of the models seems to be showing that Friday may not be too bad for breeze around here. We shall see…

Have yourself a top old Sunday!
