Hello Friends,
Swell has kicked on overnight, so this morning sees conditions not dissimilar to yesterday’s good-enough-to-bottle swell. Average height at sea is a modest 1.5 metres from the SE and the period is still around the 9 sec mark in the Sydney region. It looks as though these conditions should last through the day too.
So, what about the wind situation? Ah, glad you asked. Would you like light and variable all day? Done. You’ve got it. Go surfin’ when your schedule permits. There should be heaps of alternatives to choose from.
Get out there if you can and go well with whatever comes your way!

Hello Friends,
The swell is looking pretty fun this morning at Dee Why - and everywhere else that likes straight south. Out at the MHL buoy, the average height is a couple metres, but there are bomb sets into the 4 metre range and the energy setting is at a sturdy 9 seconds.
For the point at Dee Why this is translating into lots of head high sets and the odd one into the 1.5x overhead range. Wind is out of the WNW right along the coastline of the Sydney region. It’s in the 10 kt range, so the already cool temps are gonna feel pretty brisk if you’re pulling on a sodden wetsuit that you forgot to take out of the car last night. Brrr! Water’s nice in though!
Outlook for today in Sydney is for fine weather and a high of around 21. Wind is set to ease off during the day to around 8-13 kts.
And the good news is that the swell is set to stick around through tomorrow.
Not sure how the schedule will play out today, but if possible, I’ll try to update with a new long range forecast. And, if I get out and about, I’ll also endeavour to file a little audio story for your amusement.
Get out there if you can, and wherever your day takes you, may it all go well.

Hello Friends,
Huey got to work last night while you were sleeping Sydneysiders. In the space of just a few hours, the swell coming toward our fair city went from less than a metre at 5 seconds to 4-6 metres at 9 seconds. The primary direction has swung from the SSW to a more amenable SSE. Just one thing… did I mention the windchill factor?
The WSW’ly is pushing along at a brisk 17-20 kts as I write this around 0730. It’s around 12 degrees up the valley from Dee Why, but that wind will be making it feel closer to 7. The good thing is that the wind is due to fade back this morning and the swell should stick around all day before dropping overnight.
Get out there if you can!
